The Faculty of Mass Communication started a one-week field training programme which was part of a bigger comprehensive plan for providing field training for the faculty students. This was held under the supervision of Prof. Ramadan Abu El-Ala, the Vice President of Community Service and Environment Development Affairs and Prof. Azza Othamn, the Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication. This was held in the framework of the faculty’s endeavours to develop the potentials of the faculty students in regard with field training.
The activities of the field training programme started by hosting a number of specialized experts in the realm of media. In the first day, the faculty hosted Mr. Alaa Abdel Haseeb, a media personnel and a journalist in Al Ahram Newspaper; Mr. Mohamed Turk, a TV presenter at the state television and Mr. Sherief Eliesh, the Head of the Liaison and Protocol Unit at Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The day started by some words by the distinguished guests on the importance of field training and the skills should be acquired by the media graduate. On her part, Prof. Azza Othman underlined the importance of field training and the endeavours constantly made by the faculty to provide the students with all the skills they should acquire to be prepared for the labour market requirements. After this opening session, the faculty students were divided into three groups to attend workshops; the first was for the radio and television students and it was moderated by Mr. Mohamed Turk, the second was for the journalism students and it was given by Mr. Alaa Abdel Haseeb and the third was given for the public relations and marketing communications students and it was delivered by Mr. Sherief Eliesh. This field training programme was held under the supervision of Dr. Hussien Abou Omar, a Lecturer at the Public Relations Department and the Head of the Field Training Unit as well as Ms. Noha Youssif, a Demonstrator at the Journalism and Digital Publishing Department.
