Under the auspices of Prof. Ezzat Hassan, the Dean of the faculty of Applied Health Sciences Technology, the 1st students’ exhibition was organized to create and innovate scientific posters for third-year students of the Medical Laboratory Department. The exhibition was held on Wednesday, 25 December 2019. The coordination of this fair was managed under the supervision of Prof. Mervat Osman, the faculty Vice Dean, Dr. Hadil Saed Tawfek, Ms. Alaa Hegazy, Ms. Aya El Helaly, Ms. Esraa El Wakil, Ms. Tasnim Mohamed and Ms. Nourhan Ashraf. This exhibition is considered the first of its kind to be held in the faculty where the students show their creativity in tackling scientific subjects and simplifying it in form of posters they have designed.
The exhibition idea is counted as one of the new methods in interactive learning which helps in developing teamwork principle and creating competitive spirit between the students in creativity field. The exhibition also helps to strengthen the student’s self-confidence.
The exhibition included a group of students’ creative posters which had the scientific content they have studied in the Clinical Chemistry 1 curriculum. The posters tackled the following issues:
- An introduction on diabetes, symptoms and its tests.
- The role of pancreas in regulating blood sugar levels.
- Various liver functions, tests, and diseases.
- Kidney’s tests and its different functions as well as the tubes used in different tests.
Students’ creativity in using different materials appeared in exhibits such as glass, wood, compressed foam, cardboard, liver and kidney, pancreas models and different tests tubes.
