As part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ efforts to support young student leaders and enhance their role in student activities, the ministry organized a forum for student union leaders from various Egyptian universities and institutes under the slogan “Egypt’s Students Union ” in Sharm El-Sheikh. Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) participated in the forum with the presence of the Director of the Student Activities Department, the President of the Student Union, and the Vice President of the Student Union.

The forum’s opening session featured a speech by Dr. Hossam El-Din Mustafa, Director of the Leadership Institute, who emphasized the importance of youth participation in student activities and announced that this gathering was the first meeting of Egypt’s Student Union following recent university elections. He also mentioned a proposal to amend the Student Union regulations and set a date to discuss the amendments with union leaders and student activities directors. Dr. Karim Hammam then welcomed all youth care directors from various universities and honored the newly elected Student Union Presidents and Vice Presidents, in the presence of the Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities and Dr. Ahmed Fathy, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Youth Leaders Foundation.

During the interactive session, the President of PUA’s Student Union presented an intervention highlighting the university’s commitment to mandatory field training as a graduation requirement. He explained how the Field Training Center coordinates between students and various work sectors to enhance their practical education and prepare them for the labor market. He also discussed with Dr. Karim Hammam how to support talented students in sports, arts, and sciences, proposing the provision of free opportunities or grants in collaboration with the ministry or other organizations. Additionally, he suggested expanding student exchange programs with international universities.

On the second day, Dr. Karim Hammam underscored the importance of enhancing student activities through cooperation between Egyptian universities. He also announced the Ideal Student Competition at Fayoum University, set to take place at the national level in April, and confirmed that discussions with university youth care directors would continue.
