PUA’s Faculty of Financial and Administrative Sciences hosted a cultural seminar titled “Qualifications of Banking Jobs”, aimed at raising cultural and professional awareness among students and introducing them to the demands of the labor market in the banking sector. The seminar was presented by Dr. Ihab Barghash, an economic expert, Director of the National Bank of Kuwait, and Head of the Resource Development Committee at Smouha Club.
Dr. Barghash engaged students in an interactive dialogue about the opportunities and challenges in the banking sector. He covered several key topics, including the fundamentals of banking operations and their mechanisms, the difference between investment certificates and deposits, and the interest benefits for both banks and individuals. He also tackled banks’ policies in determining credit and debit interest rates and the legal reserve ratio, and the essential skills and qualifications graduates need to succeed in banking, emphasizing the importance of academic excellence and practical skills such as financial analysis and risk management.
The seminar began with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Tarek Taha, who encouraged students to maximize their learning from the event. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, also delivered a speech highlighting the significant advancements in the banking sector and financial transactions. He noted that simplified banking practices, such as those offered through applications like InstaPay, have made banking more accessible to everyone.
