PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design recently hosted renowned Egyptian designer Mohamed Sami in an open seminar, attracting students from various departments within the faculty. Sami delivered an educational lecture highlighting the significance of Egyptian identity and the role of traditional fashion in representing Egypt on the global stage. He also emphasized how traditional attire helps preserve Egyptian heritage and cultural identity.

During the seminar, Sami showcased a selection of his unique designs that skillfully blend traditional and contemporary elements, many of which have been worn by both Egyptian and international artists. Further, he shared insights into the use of traditional motifs, particularly the Upper Egyptian “Talli” (kind of patterns) with its distinctive silver threads, to create modern accessories inspired by Egyptian folk art.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students and faculty members discussed the origins of Egyptian traditional clothing and the importance of safeguarding cultural identity in various art forms. Sami expressed his gratitude to the faculty administration and event organizers for the warm reception and outstanding organization.
