PUA Participates in Hypatia Art Week

PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design takes pride in the achievements of its students as Ms. Mena Shouky, a senior student in the Fashion Design Department, participated in the “Fashion and Jewelry Show” as part of Hypatia Art Week, the largest event supporting female artists and creators across various artistic fields in Alexandria.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Freedom Center for Creativity, affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund, in strategic partnership with the General Authority for Tourism Promotion in Alexandria, and was hosted by the Russian House.
Mena Shouky’s participation came through “Kemet,” the incubator for arts and handicrafts, where she presented a collection of her designs, entirely inspired by Egyptian Siwan heritage, showcasing its beauty and intricate details in a contemporary style.
Among her showcased designs was a piece from her third-year coursework in the “Traditional Costumes” course, supervised by Dr. Mohamed Saad Taghyan, a seconded lecturer in the department. In addition, she displayed original designs of her own creation, reflecting her skill in seamlessly blending Egyptian heritage with a modern and innovative aesthetic.
This achievement highlights the excellence of PUA’s Fashion Design students and their ability to produce remarkable designs that reinforce Egyptian identity in the world of fashion.
