PUA’s Faculty of Engineering conducted a workshop as part of its Green Pharos initiative, drawing attendance from a diverse group of students, teaching assistants, and faculty members. The workshop delved into various pressing issues, notably the peril and adverse impact of plastic waste on the environment at large, and its specific implications for the climate. It elucidated diverse methods for managing plastic waste, with a particular emphasis on mechanical recycling as a secure and ecologically sound approach. Moreover, the workshop outlined the challenges inherent in this system and proposed environmentally friendly solutions, advocating for increased awareness of critical extraction technology employing carbon dioxide gas. This underscored the significance of additive manufacturing in generating top-tier products with advanced applications, utilizing recycled plastic waste in a sustainable manner.
