As part of Pharos University’s interest in cultural rapprochement with Spanish-speaking countries, the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Pharos University, in cooperation with the Department of International Relations, has succeeded in hosting the third Spanish Cultural Day (Ibero-American Cultural Day) on October 22, 2024.

The students of the Spanish Language Department participated in presenting the event’s segments, which varied between poetry, music and performances. The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Spain and Paraguay and members of the diplomatic missions of the countries of South America.

The university was represented by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin (President of the University), the deputies, Prof. Dr. Osama Madani (Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation), Asst. Prof. Dr. Menatallah Gawid (Director of the International Relations Department at the University), faculty members, and students of the Faculty of Languages and Translation.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin (President of the University) delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and stressed the need to pay attention to foreign languages, especially the Spanish language, which is widely accepted and popular among students. The evidence of this is the great demand for studying in the Spanish Language Department this year and in previous years, which made it one of the most densely populated scientific departments with students. This is evidence of the distinguished level of the department and the fields that the labor market provides for its graduates.

At the end of the conference, the ambassadors and members of the diplomatic missions praised the wonderful organization of the conference and the wonderful performances presented by the students in Spanish, and their mastery of it.
