How Big is Your Environmental Footprint Workshop
As part of the second Edition of Green Pharos Campaign and in alignment with its efforts to promote environmental awareness in the hospitality sector, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management organized a workshop titled “How Big is Your Environmental Footprint?” The workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept of the environmental footprint, the environmental impact of tourism and hotel activities, and ways to mitigate this impact through sustainable practices.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Magdy, a lecturer in the Hotel Management Department, who highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability in the tourism sector. He explored modern strategies and techniques that enable hotel establishments to reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining high-quality services.
The workshop featured active student participation, with discussions on successful case studies of hotels and tourism establishments implementing eco-friendly practices. Participants also received hands-on training in environmental impact assessment and developing sustainable action plans for their future careers.
At the conclusion of the event, students expressed their gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Magdy for his insightful lecture and voiced their enthusiasm for more workshops focused on sustainability.
