The faculty of Mass Communication hosted Prof. Awatef Abd El Rahman, a Professor in the Journalism Department in the faculty of Mass Communication – Cairo University to give a seminar entitled “Future Studies in Media Field”. The seminar was held on Wednesday, 8 January 2020.
At the beginning of the seminar, Prof. Awatef Abd El Rahman talked about the importance of future studies nowadays and it should be taken into consideration by researchers in all fields. She stressed the necessity of reconsidering the use of technology and social media to research for books, reports and foreign theses.
She also addressed how to do researches about future studies. Moreover, she pointed out that paper journalism will not fade away as some believe but it must include opinion articles, since the articles are read in the newspapers not the online ones. She ended the seminar with stressing the importance of future studies becoming a societal culture and a pattern of thinking and that we must sensitize public opinion to future studies.
It is worth mentioning that the seminar was attended by Prof. Azza Othman, the Dean of the faculty of Mass Communication, faculty members, teaching assistants and Master’s and PhD researchers from other universities. At the end, Prof. Azza Othman gave the shield of Pharos University to Prof. Awatef Abd EL Rahman.
