Education Sustainability and Environmental Consciousness Workshop
Under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Development Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Osama Madani, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Al-Sayed Hassouna from the Spanish Language Department led a seminar and workshop focusing on education sustainability and environmental consciousness as part of the Pharos Green Initiative.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about sustainability in education and promote the green initiatives undertaken by Pharos University. Dr. Hassouna elaborated on the comprehensive approach and prerequisites of sustainable development, emphasizing the imperative of meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own requirements.
Furthermore, the seminar featured visual representations of global challenges, encompassing issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace, and justice. Dr. Hassouna outlined seventeen goals aimed at addressing these challenges, aligning with the United Nations’ framework, with a particular emphasis on the fourth goal—quality education as a means to achieve sustainable development. He commended the pivotal role played by government officials and personnel across various sectors in implementing this methodology.
In the workshop’s culmination, participants deliberated on existing challenges and obstacles, identifying corrective measures necessary to realize all sustainable development goals by 2030.
