Digitization and Artificial Intelligence in Achieving SDGs

Within the framework of PUA’s commitment to community service, and upon the invitation of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, PUA participated in the international conference titled “The Role of Digitization and Artificial Intelligence in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the MENA Region.” This event was organized by the MENA Regional Film Committee (IFLA) and the Arab Knowledge Management Foundation (AIKM).

On the first day of the conference, PUA presented its vision on harnessing digitization and artificial intelligence in education and training through simulation programs via a recorded video. The presentation also emphasized the crucial role of a robust digital infrastructure in universities, which allowed educational institutions to seamlessly continue their operations and deliver remote learning through digital platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the conclusion of his address, Dr. Etman highlighted that digital technology and artificial intelligence are no longer optional but have become essential tools to meet the demands of modern times.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, delivered a keynote address during the opening session. His speech, which included representatives from various Arab and North African countries, underscored the importance of this conference as a milestone in the library’s ongoing role in engaging with society, universities, and institutions on pressing contemporary issues such as digitization and artificial intelligence.
