PD EVENTS 2023

December 2023 – Using Generative AI in TESOL : Professional Practices & Applications – Dr. Hebatollah Hegazy

Exciting news 🤩!
The Teacher Training Centre at PUA recently organized a spectacular professional development day for those interested in AI. It was a day filled with insightful workshops, engaging activities, and networking opportunities🎉. The event was a huge success👏, thanks to Dr. Hebatullah’s detailed planning and dedication. The workshops offered tips and ideas that would enhance the participants’ technological skills. It was a hands-on experience learning from industry experts, and connecting with others. Looking forward to more of such useful workshops by Dr. Hebatullah, and we’re confident that she would continuously be investing in the professional growth of EFL teachers to foster a culture of learning and shared knowledge.

Noha Hilmy gave two sessions to K-12 school teachers of English, math and science. The first session was about how to implement the WBT, the whole brain teaching method, in their classrooms for better classroom management and more engaging lessons. She demonstrated three lessons using this technique to cover the three subjects. She acted as a teacher and the attendees acted as students to grasp the essence of the techniques.

In the second session, Noha explained the theory of PBL, project-based learning, and focussed on providing the teachers with an action plan using the National Geographic learning framework. She demonstrated three models of PBL: one face-to-face, one online, and another one 45 min face-to-face to relate it to the actual context and time frame the teachers have in their regular daily lessons.

Attendees were given guidance on how to take their professional development further.
