The Scout Committee at PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management hosted a workshop titled “Camping, Map Reading, and Compass Use”. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential exploration skills in natural environments and enhance their ability to rely on themselves in diverse settings.

The workshop covered several key topics, including:

  1. Camping Basics: Selecting suitable locations, setting up tents, and securing necessary equipment.
  2. Map Reading: Understanding geographical symbols and interpreting topographic maps to determine directions.
  3. Compass Use: Learning how to use a compass to identify directions and integrating this skill with map reading for accurate navigation.

Participants received a detailed explanation of these skills, followed by hands-on practice to apply the techniques in real-world scenarios. By the end of the workshop, students expressed significant satisfaction with the knowledge and skills they gained, emphasizing the importance of organizing more advanced workshops in this field.

This initiative is part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ practical skills and encourage them to explore nature with confidence and efficiency. Through such events, PUA continues to prepare well-rounded graduates capable of facing challenges in various environments while fostering a spirit of adventure and self-reliance.
