Under the Student Activities Department, PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design hosted a seminar titled “The Concept of Biomimicry of Marine Plants and Its Impact on Interior Design and Furniture.” The event was prepared and presented by Dr. Lina Ali, a lecturer in the Decor Department.
The seminar explored biomimicry—drawing inspiration from nature, particularly marine plants—to drive innovation in furniture and interior design. Discussions centered on how the natural characteristics of marine plants, such as unique geometric forms and environmental adaptability, can inspire creative designs that blend aesthetics with functionality.
Additionally, the event underscored the importance of integrating environmental concepts into contemporary design, promoting sustainability, and minimizing ecological impact. Practical examples of nature-inspired designs were showcased, demonstrating their potential in developing sustainable and efficient design solutions.
This seminar is part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about sustainability in design and encourage students to explore unconventional sources of inspiration. Through such initiatives, PUA aims to equip future designers with the skills to address modern challenges through creative and environmentally responsible solutions.
