During the workshop between PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department of and the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands, the 1st day commenced with field visits to certain project that would later be the focus of the workshop. Students took detailed notes and engaged in discussions with project managers.

On the subsequent day, a series of lectures took place at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft. Five specialized lecturers from various parts of the world delivered presentations, including a notable speaker, the former Head of the Department of Technological Architecture – Professor of Heritage Preservation. Topics covered during these lectures encompassed the fundamentals of redesigning for changing purposes, community involvement in conservation endeavors, repurposing neglected heritage structures, and decision-making support mechanisms.

Regarding the practical segment of the workshop, participants were divided into three groups, comprising graduates, postgraduates, and students at different academic levels. Each group delved into one of the projects visited earlier, such as repurposing heritage buildings, developing residential structures, and revitalizing neglected industrial sites. They formulated visions for the realistic stages of reuse and development, identified major obstacles, and proposed solutions in alignment with the preceding lectures. These proposed solutions were presented through group presentations.

The workshop culminated in an enriching discussion between lecturers and participants to evaluate the level of benefit, endorse outstanding ideas, and assess any unaddressed aspects in the group proposals.

Furthermore, the scientific program in the Netherlands incorporated recreational activities, including visits to Keukenhof Park, one of Europe’s key tourist attractions, and Madurodam Park, which features scale models of key Dutch landmarks at a 1:25 scale.
