As part of (EM 327- Numerically Controlled Machines) course, and in the quest for linking academic content with practical and field training, students of the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Program, Mechanical Engineering Department, began their training period.
The training was held between February 6, 2022 and February 10, 2022 at the Training Academy of the Arab Organization for Industrialization in Cairo (AOI). The total number of participating students was 19 male and 14 female students from the Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing program. In addition to 5 students from the Mechanical Power Engineering program.
This training comes in light of activating the joint cooperation protocol between Pharos University in Alexandria and (AOI). The training period lasted for 5 continuous days, with a total of 5.30 hour/day. Further, the training was jointly supervised by PUA represented by Eng. Heba Fahmy, Assistant Lecturer in the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Program, Mechanical Engineering Department, on one hand. On the other hand, the training academy was represented by Eng. Sally Samir and Eng. Azza Kamal, Senior Production Mechanics and DMG MORI Certified Trainers), along with Mr. Kamal Hassan, Academy’s training official.
The training hours were divided between hands-on training on machines, software and simulation in the computer lab. The training included:
- Introduction to GM Coding
- Practical Application of Codes to Fanuc Machines
- Theoretical exercise and simulation on Siemens control system to implement milling operations
- Hands-on training on milling machines with Siemens control system
- Theoretical and practical training on Siemens control systems for drilling machines
By the end of the training course, certificates of completion were awarded to the students. The training activities had a great impact on the program in terms of student excellence and enhancing areas of cooperation with (AOI). In return, it encouraged more students to apply to the program in order to register in the same training course during the current summer.
Furthermore, the students were privileged by being featured in the promotional advertisement for the distinguished training programs offered by the (AOI). The advertisement was broadcasted on the well-known and widespread Egyptian Al-Hayat channel as well as their YouTube channel
It is also worth noting that PUA contributed in supporting the students by providing transportation and accommodation at the Air Defense House in Cairo, Nozha branch during the training period.
