An Educational Visit to Wood Tech Company

The Petrochemical Engineering Department at PUA’s Faculty of Engineering, as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the role of petrochemical engineering in sustainable industrial projects, organized a field visit to Wood Tech Wood Technology Company. The visit aimed to introduce students to the latest technologies used in converting rice straw into high-quality industrial wood, highlighting the intersection of engineering innovation and sustainability.

The delegation, which included students from the Petrochemical Engineering Department and the Basic Sciences Department, was warmly received by Eng. Ahmed Baraka, Chairman of the Board of Directors, along with Eng. Hani Ahmed, Company’s Consultant, Eng. Ahmed Gaber, General Manager of Maintenance, and Eng. Mohamed Hassan Toto, General Manager of Safety. The students also had the opportunity to meet Abdullah Al-Rijal, a graduate of the department and current employee at the company, who shared his professional journey and insights.

During the visit, the Operations and Safety Managers provided a detailed explanation of the processes involved in converting rice straw into high-quality compressed wood (MDF), emphasizing the innovative techniques used to ensure product quality and efficiency. Additionally, the students were introduced to the company’s environmental protection and occupational safety systems, which play a crucial role in minimizing environmental impact and ensuring workplace safety.

The event reflects the department’s commitment to providing students with hands-on learning experiences and fostering partnerships with industry leaders. Through initiatives like this, Pharos University continues to prepare its graduates to tackle global challenges and lead the transition toward a more sustainable future.
