An Awareness Symposium on Earth Day

In pursuit of spreading sustainability culture and enhancing environmental awareness, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management organized an awareness symposium on Earth Day, as part of PUA’s second annual environmental campaign under the slogan “Green Pharos”.
The symposium focused on discussing effective environmental practices to preserve natural resources, such as:
 Rationalizing energy and water consumption in hotels and tourism facilities.
 Promoting recycling and reducing waste in the tourism sector.
 Adopting sustainable hospitality technologies that balance economic development and environmental protection.
 The role of students in embracing these principles within the university campus and applying them in their future careers.
Participants, including academics and students, emphasized the importance of integrating eco-tourism concepts into academic curricula and linking hospitality and tourism disciplines to sustainable development goals. Attendees also discussed ways to implement sustainability standards in student projects and research.
This symposium aligns with the university’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Dean of the Faculty, stated, “These events are part of our vision to provide holistic education that combines academic excellence with social and environmental responsibility.”
It is worth noting that PUA launched the second edition of its “Green Pharos” campaign this year, which includes a series of workshops and practical activities to mainstream sustainability culture across all university faculties, in collaboration with civil society organizations and relevant government entities.
