A Visit to Al-Mansheya Historical District

PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department conducted a field visit to the Al-Mansheya area in St. Catherine Square for fourth-year students (eighth academic level). The visit, supervised by Dr. Engy Naguib and Eng. Aisha Mohamed, aimed to inspire students’ imagination, enhance their creativity, and bridge the gap between architectural theories and practical applications within the architectural engineering 6 course (EA412).

Al-Mansheya, a district renowned for its historical significance, offers a unique blend of heritage and modern architectural styles. This visit provided students with the opportunity to delve into the rich history and architectural characteristics of the area, fostering a deeper appreciation for Alexandria’s cultural legacy.

Students were introduced to the historical background of the district, exploring its distinguished buildings and their architectural components. They also examined the processes of development, renovation, and preservation of architectural heritage. This hands-on experience enabled them to gain valuable insights into the challenges and strategies of maintaining and revitalizing historical structures.
