The patient’s journey with the clinical pharmacist is a crucial element in enhancing the quality of healthcare, as pharmacists provide continuous support to patients throughout all stages of treatment, from diagnosis to post-treatment follow-up. In line with its commitment to enriching medical and practical education, PUA organized a field visit to the Saudi German Hospital for students from the Faculties of Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Applied Health Sciences Technology, and Dentistry. This visit offered students a valuable opportunity to explore the latest healthcare technologies and witness firsthand the practical applications of medical concepts taught at the university.
During the visit, Dr. Shaimaa Al-Abd, Director of Pharmacy Services at the Saudi German Hospital and a fellow at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States, delivered an interactive lecture on the role of pharmacy in enhancing hospital healthcare quality. She emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary coordination among medical specialties and discussed effective pharmacy service management strategies to ensure optimal patient care. Additionally, Dr. Al-Abd highlighted the latest advancements in medical pharmacy and stressed the importance of continuous professional development in this vital sector.
The visit also included guided tours within the hospital pharmacy, where students observed the work environment, learned about the collaboration between medical teams, and gained insights into the pharmacist’s role in improving treatment efficiency. This initiative is part of a series of educational events organized by Pharos University to familiarize students with the latest developments in healthcare and to foster innovation and continuous learning. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
