I graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University in 1981, and was appointed demonstrator in the same place. Upon completion of my Masters and PhD I was seconded to Beirut Arab University where I was acting chairperson from 1998-2001. I became a professor in 2005 and held several administrative posts at universities and the Library of Alexandria, including Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Pharos University from 2009-2011. My publications include numerous articles and books published in Egypt, England, America and Lebanon,

Amr M. El-Zawawy is Professor of Linguistics and Translation. He obtained his MA and Ph.D. from the Department of English Language and Literature, Fac­ulty of Arts, Alexandria University, Egypt, between 2005 and 2013. He obtained his professorship in 2023. He has also practiced writ­ten and simultaneous translation for more than eight years now. He has contributed important articles to different scholarly journals, and is interested in simultaneous interpretation, cognitive linguistics, literary translation, contrastive linguistics, syntax and semantics.

Nadia Touba worked as a professor of English Language Methodology at Alexandria University for most of her professional career. She has also worked as the Director of the English Studies Division at the American University in Cairo. Until recently she was the Director of the Nile Egyptian Schools project which is in partnership with Cambridge International Examinations CIE. She has played the leadership role in several high level projects in Egypt like developing education standards, developing and implementing the first Egyptian standardized tests for teacher placement in the Egyptian Teachers’ Cadre and leading the development of the first Egyptian standards-based textbook to introduce the teaching of English to very young learners. She has worked with English Testing Services ETS in Princeton to develop a course and tests that are internationally administrated. She is also a consultant for the Commission for Academic Accreditation in the Emirates.

I obtained a PHD in Spanish Philology from the University of Complutense in Madrid with a distinction of honor with honors, entitled “Surrealism in the poetry of Federico García Lorca” and became a general specialist in contemporary Spanish literature, and meticulous specialization Spanish contemporary poetry.

Osama Madany is professor of English and American literature, and Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt. He is member of the Egyptian referee board for the promotion of professors and associate professors, and member of the Faculty of Arts National Sector at the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, responsible for leading teams to revise and approve more than twenty internal regulations for undergraduate and graduate programs at national and private universities nationwide. He is currently member of the International Comparative Literature Association Nominating Committee. He was team leader in establishing the Faculty of Media Studies at Menoufia University (2011), and the Depts. of Hebrew, Persian, and Archelogy at the same university (2017 – 2020). He is board member of twelve national and international academic journals, and external reviewer at the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (NAQAAE) He is recipient of three Fulbright teaching and research grants, and co-founder of the Humanities Circle at the Fulbright Commission in Egypt. He has published extensively on Scottish, Irish, and Arab-American poetry and fiction with special emphasis on border crossing theory, and the shifting of cultural space in contemporary Egyptian fiction writers. He has translated three books for the National Translation Centre in Egypt, and his latest publication is: Readings in Contemporary Egyptian Narrative:  From Theory to Practice (Cairo: Egyptian General Book Authority, 2021).

Dr. Sameh Alansary is the Professor of computational linguistics in the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics and the head of Phonetics and Linguistics Department, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University. His main areas of interest are concerned with computational linguistics and language engineering, corpus work, morphological analysis and generation, and building formal grammars. He established the Arabic Computational Linguistics Center in Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Prof. Alansary is the co-founder and Vice president of board of the Arabic Language Technology Center (ALTEC) in Cairo, an NGO aims at providing Arabic Language resources and building a road map for Arabic Language Technology in Egypt and in the Middle East.
