On the occasion of World Tourism Day, observed annually on September 27 since 1980 under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization, PUA’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management organized a virtual workshop titled “Tourism and Peace.” The workshop was led by Dr. Fabio Carboni, a lecturer at the University of Northampton, UK.

Dr. Carboni explored the intricate relationship between tourism and peace, emphasizing the vital role that tourism plays in fostering and promoting peace across the globe. The workshop delved into various aspects of this connection, including the challenges that could impede tourism’s positive influence on peace in certain destinations. Key issues discussed included over-tourism and the inappropriate behavior of some tourists, both of which can have detrimental effects on tourist destinations and their local communities.
