In pursuit of community engagement, which Pharos University in Alexandria (PUA) values greatly, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Etman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, participated in a workshop to present and discuss Personalized Medicine project. It is noteworthy that this project is funded by the European Union with a grant of one million euros, following its submission by Alexandria University in collaboration with several Egyptian and foreign universities.

Dr. Etman contributed to the discussions surrounding this project, emphasizing its significance as the future of global healthcare. He highlighted its role in advancing public health and optimizing treatment plans for patients. Moreover, he identified various challenges hindering the implementation of this treatment approach. These obstacles include the impact of genetic diversity on drug response in diseases (Pharmacogenomics), the high cost involved, the necessity for continuous monitoring, and the periodic reassessment of treatment strategies.
