Eighth semester students in the Architectural Engineering Department conducted a field trip as part of the Architectural Design 6 Course (EA412). The trip was to downtown Alexandria, including the Raml Station Square and the surrounding buildings under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mona Mohamed Najeeb, and Eng. Laura Nabil.

Further, the student made a field report about the buildings’ conditions, heights, uses, etc. In addition, they examined the facades of the buildings subject of the study, and the plans of the area’s heritage buildings. They also photographed the buildings to make the required analytical studies of the area, which help to clarify the strengths and weaknesses.

These studies can be then used in proposing a design capable of preserving the old Raml station area and reuse its heritage buildings. With the aim of reviving this historical area and making it a tourist attraction, hence contributing in developing Alexandria’s local economy.
