A Visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum

PUA’s Architectural Engineering Department is committed to fostering students’ imaginative and creative abilities while bridging the gap between architectural design theories and practical applications. In this context, fourth-year students (7th semester) paid a field visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum as part of the “Architectural Design 5” course. The visit was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mona Naguib, the course instructor, and T. A. Habeeba Mohamed.

The visit commenced with a guided tour, where students explored the museum’s organized pathways and experienced how visitors navigate the space to view archaeological exhibits efficiently. During the visit, students took measurements of dimensions and heights across various spaces and created field sketches to inform their individual design projects. They also gained insights into the functional relationships between interior spaces, fire exits, and how these elements integrate with the overall structure of the building. This hands-on experience provided a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of architectural concepts and their real-world applications.
