A Field Visit to the Administrative Capital

5th year students (ninth semester) of the Architectural Engineering Department at PUA’s Faculty of Engineering conducted a field visit to the Urban Planning Authority of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, in the New Administrative Capital.

This visit comes within the scope of Architectural Design 7 course (EA511). The students began the visit by riding the newly-established LRT from Adly Mansour Station to the Arts and Culture Station, and then to the Ministries District in the Administrative Capital. Meanwhile, one of the course lecturers explained to the students the structure of the new station, which serves as a model for their design project. In this semester, students are required to design an electric train station and a subway station.

After that, the students were welcomed by the Authority’s Chairman, who familiarized them with the Authority’s role in the planning process in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Further, several maps were presented showing the various regions of Egypt and the extent of the planning development taking place. In the same context, the Director of the Infrastructure Department gave a brief lecture on modern means of transportation such as the LRT and the Monorail, showing the pros and cons of each one.
