PUA’s Engineering Celebrates October Victories

PUA’s Faculty of Engineering marked the anniversary of the October 1973 War with a seminar titled “Preparing and Equipping for the Glorious October War,” organized by the National Awareness and Combating Extremism Team in cooperation with the Student Activities Department. The event featured the presence of Major General Ashraf Fathy El-Sanhoury, Assistant Director of Nasser Higher Military Academy for Education Affairs, along with Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed El-Meligy, Dean of the Faculty, faculty members, teaching assistants, and students.

The seminar began with the Egyptian national anthem, followed by an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Gamal Mahmoud, Coordinator of the National Awareness and Combating Extremism Team. Dr. Gamal expressed pride in celebrating the 51st anniversary of the October War, which he described as one of the greatest victories in Egypt’s history. He emphasized the war’s significance in restoring Egypt’s dignity and land through the determination and courage of the Egyptian army and people.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meligy also addressed the audience, sharing his personal experience of witnessing the events of the war. He explained that the seminar aimed to instill a sense of loyalty and belonging in students while raising their awareness of the sacrifices made by the Egyptian armed forces.

Major General El-Sanhoury provided an insightful overview of the military, social, and economic preparations leading to the October War victory. He elaborated on the strategic deception used by the Egyptian leadership and the implementation methods that resulted in a decisive victory.

Following the presentations, students and faculty members engaged in a Q&A session with Major General El-Sanhoury, who responded to their inquiries in detail. The event concluded with the honoring of Major General El-Sanhoury, who received the Faculty of Engineering Shield and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his efforts to educate students about Egypt’s distinguished history.
