SDGs in the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemicals Sector

The Petrochemical Department Engineering at PUA’s Faculty of Engineering places great emphasis on raising awareness about sustainability goals among its students. In collaboration with the Student Activities Department, the Department organized a lecture titled “Sustainable Development Goals in the Oil, Gas, and Petrochemicals Sector,” presented by Dr. Mohamed El Banna, a sustainability expert.

During the lecture, Dr. El Banna outlined Egypt’s roadmap to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discussed strategies to reduce carbon emissions. He also shared practical examples from petroleum and refining companies, locally and internationally, which helped illustrate how industrial applications can contribute to achieving sustainability goals.

At the conclusion of the lecture, the Department honored Dr. El Banna for his valuable efforts in promoting the culture of sustainability across academic and industrial sectors. The lecture saw strong participation from students, including both undergraduates and graduates, as well as faculty members, fostering an engaging and insightful discussion.
